Minister Yıldırım states date for Marmaray

Binali Yıldırım, Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication who examined the Kadıköy-Üsküdar line for which the works have been carried out within the scope of the Marmaray project, stated that the Marmaray project is quite significant in terms of the integration of the international transportation.

marmarayUnderlining that the Silk Road Train that sets off China will continue crossing Asia and Europe as well as the underside of Istanbul Strait up to London, Yıldırım said, “Therefore, Marmaray is a project that is ‘must’ for an uninterrupted transportation line. So the entire world is following up this project carefully.” Specifying that they will bring the people of Istanbul from Europe to Asia and from Asia to Europe on the 90th anniversary of the Turkish Republic utilizing Marmaray, Yıldırım stated the following: “In a few years, the rail system in Istanbul will have exceeded 250 kilometres. Of course, such structures are difficult structures; you have to work underground and under the traffic. There might be unexpected unhappy events. If there becomes no such unexpected event that is also out of our will, our present target is 29 October 2013.”
