Turkey bypasses Syria via Alexandria-Duba line

Turkish Government has provided an alternative route in order to maintain transportation to other countries through Syria and to provide security for the transporters.




zafer caglayanFor the security of transportation to other countries, Mersin (Turkey)-Alexandria (Egypt) -Duba (Saudi Arabia) line has been selected as the alternative route. Within this scope, Ro-Ro and Transit Land Transportation Collaboration Proceeding has been signed with Egypt. Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan, who has answered written parliamentary question of MHP Hatay Representative Şefik Çirkin, which is related to the struggles of the companies that carry out business with Syria, has stated that as from March 30th, 9 security, 127 commercial, total of 136 applications,  have been made to Syria State Monitoring Desk. Minister Çağlayan, who stated that the alternative route research for the security of the transporters and continuity of transportation to other countries due to the problems in Syria has been concluded, "It has been decided that Mersin-Alexandria -Duba line is the most convenient route. Within this scope, by means of using the Ro-Ro lines between Turkey and Egypt, which are planned to be established, the negotiations about the transportation to Gulf Countries through the Red Sea with the authorities of Egypt are almost completed."
